Other Deformities

Some other deformities found in fish include missing or additional fins, shortened opercle(s) (an opercle is the flap of tissue that covers the gills, a shortened opercle means the gills can be easily seen), and blindness or deformities of the fins, eyes, lips or jaws. Some deformities such as deformed fins could be caused by an injury.
