Multi-Stakeholder Monitoring

In some circumstances, a group of industrial companies may wish to monitor a given area collectively, to determine both each company's effects and their overall cumulative effects. The Regional Aquatics Monitoring Program (RAMP) is just such an industry-funded, multi-stakeholder initiative, monitoring aquatic environments in the oil sands region where numerous companies have operations. View a list of the RAMP members who direct the monitoring program.

The intent of RAMP is to integrate aquatic monitoring activities to assess and identify long-term trends, regional issues and potential cumulative effects related to oil sands development in the aquatic environment (RAMP 2005). Within the RAMP program there is a watershed-level assessment and a regional assessment.
