Aquatic Habitats in the Lower Athabasca Region

The lower Athabasca region includes several types of aquatic environments, from large rivers to biologically diverse muskeg wetlands. These environments, differing in their physical, chemical, and biological characteristics, are home to an equally diverse range of aquatic animals and plants. The characteristics of each type of aquatic environment are described in the following sections:
