Climate in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo

Climate and weather can be described by a number of indicators: most obviously temperature and precipitation, but also hours of sunshine, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and evaporation. The ranges and variation of these derive from a number of global, regional, and local factors.

Climate in the Wood Buffalo region is highly seasonal. Winters are long and very cold, while summers are short but warm and moist. Spring and fall are both short, cool seasons with considerable precipitation. The following sections describe the Wood Buffalo region's climate classification, and its temperature variation, precipitation, and other climate indicators.
